Update on Felonious Assault news release

On Thursday, May 29, 2014, Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm at a home on South River Road. The suspect was arrested at the time without incident.

Lester Larry Heminger, age 49, was arraigned on Friday charged with Aggravated Assault. Heminger remains in custody on a $2,000.00 bond.

Heminger is accused of pointing a long gun at a 49 year old Belding man during an argument.

Date and Time: Thursday, May 29, 2014 at approximately
1:20 P.M.
Location of Incident: 11000 Block of South River Road in
Eureka Township.

Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a felonious assault report in the 11000 block of South River Road in Eureka Township at approximately 1:20 P.M. on Thursday, May 29, 2014. The investigation led to the arrest of a Belding man.

The initial report indicated that the victim, a fifty year old man also from Belding, went to the home of a friend on River Road and was confronted by the suspect, a fifty year old, who was living on the same property. An argument erupted between the two which led to the Belding man retrieving a long gun and pointing it at the victim.

The deputies arrived and apprehended the suspect without incident and the weapon, a single shot shotgun, was recovered.

No one was injured during the incident.

The Greenville Department of Public Safety assisted at the scene and Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services was placed on standby during the event.

The suspect is expected to be charged and arraigned on felony charges.
