North Aurora Community Parade Sunday at 3pm

The 5th Annual North Aurora Community Parade will take place on Sunday, June 1st, at 3 p.m. This year's theme is "Heroes Among Us."

The parade, which is organized by the North Aurora Mothers Club, will feature The Jesse White Tumblers, fire trucks, police cars, Girl Scout troops, horses, Shriner mini cars, baseball teams, Cub Scouts & Girl Scouts, a King and Queen and so much more!

The Grand Marshall will be this years Commitment to Community Award winner, Steve Miller, who recently retired as Chief of the North Aurora Fire Protection District.  Chief Miller will be presented with his award after the parade.

The parade will begin at Clocktower Plaza on the corner of Randall and Oak Streets, proceed east on Oak, south on Adams Street, east on State St., and end at North Aurora Island Park on the riverfront. Following the parade, the North Aurora River District Alliance will sponsor a Post-Parade Party with food vendors, family-friendly activities, and the annual Rubber Duck Race.

Of course, parades require road closures, and if you’re trying to drive through the area between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m., you’re likely to experience traffic delays.  The streets with road closures are:

  • Oak Street, between Randall Rd. & Rt. 31
  • Rt. 31 between Mooseheart Rd. & State St.
  • Adams St. between Oak St. & State St.
  • Rt. 56 (State St.) between Rt. 31 & Rt. 25
  • Grant St, at Rt. 56 (State St.)

Our advice is to avoid the area or allow extra time for your trip.  If you’re planning on attending the parade, be sure to arrive at your preferred viewing spot early so you don’t get caught in the road closures.
