Suspect arrested for assaulting a child after she accused the child of "bullying" her daughter.
On 5/16/2014 at approximately 1:40 pm, a deputy from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to Olivet Elementary School on Willowside Road, in unincorporated Sonoma County for a report of child abuse. School staff stated a child had been reportedly assaulted by a parent.
The deputy’s investigation revealed that during the noon lunch hour, suspect Delia Garcia-Bratcher came on to the school grounds without checking in at the front office. The suspect confronted the 11-year old victim about bullying her daughter. Garcia-Bratcher grabbed the victim by the throat in front of numerous young witnesses, including her own son, who she had point out the victim to her. No adults witnessed the assault. The suspect reportedly threatened the victim about bullying her daughter.
The victim had red marks consistent with being grabbed in the neck area by an adult, which were immediately photographed by school staff as soon as they became aware of the incident. Upon the deputy’s arrival, he interviewed numerous children present during the assault.
Delia Garcia-Bratcher; 30 years old of Santa Rosa was arrested and booked at Sonoma County Jail for a violation of 273d of the Penal Code – Inflict Injury to a Child (Felony). She was released after posting 30,000.00 bail.
