Berkeley Police Department and Matrix Consulting Group Holding Town Hall Meetings

Matrix Town Hall Meetings:

The Berkeley Police Department will be having the first of several Town Hall meetings to discuss possible changes to the department’s beat structure and to ensure the most efficient police services are being delivered to all those who come to and live in the city.

Given changes in the City over the past two decades, the Police Department has been examining its beat deployment strategy with the help of Matrix Consulting Group.  Matrix has been analyzing population, geography, patrol deployment, staffing levels, officer workload, calls for service, proactive patrol time, response times, crime data, industry standards and best practices and the need for flexibility of resources to respond to identified crime trends, as well as the costs associated with service delivery.

As part of this process, BPD and Matrix are seeking public input in each Council District.  Community input will help the department and its consultants understand concerns about the availability and responsiveness of police resources. We would like to invite community members to attend the meetings and provide your input regarding the study.

District 2:  Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Rosa Parks Elementary School, 920 Allston Way

District 5 & 6:  Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Northbrae Community Church, 941 The Alameda

We will let you know about other meetings as they are scheduled.

For more information regarding the study please contact Matrix Consulting Group at [email protected].
