Attention Rutgers Community:
The New Brunswick Police Department is investigating a carjacking and robbery which was reported to have occurred on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at approximately 02:18 AM. This incident occurred on High Street between Somerset Street and Hamilton Street in New Brunswick. In this incident, the victim, who is not affiliated with Rutgers University, reported that he was approached by a male assailant that displayed what was described as a firearm. After taking personal property from the victim, the assailant joined a second male and both assailants entered the victim’s vehicle and used it to flee the area on Somerset Street towards Franklin Township.
The victim was not physically injured during this incident.
The first assailant was described as a 30 year old black male wearing a “do-rag” and a sweat suit with stripes down the arms and chest. The description of the second assailant is limited at this time.
