Amarillo man arrested after Sunday morning burglary

On Sunday (5-4-14) morning at 3:29am, APD officers were dispatched to Gebo’s at 4550 Canyon Drive on a Burglary alarm. Officers arrived two minutes later and observed the front door to the business had been broken out. They conducted a building search, however there were no suspects located inside. Officers located a video surveillance system and began rewinding it looking for possible suspects. Officers were able to get a detailed suspect description and it was broadcast to the other officers on shift.  It was also believed that the suspect had stolen a rifle out of a gun case within the store.  A few minutes later an officer who was out on another call near 45th and Tucson, observed a male subject running across the street carrying what appeared to be a rifle. This officer began chasing the subject and additional officers arrived to assist. The male subject was finally taken into custody after a short foot chase and after the suspect fought with arresting officers. The male is identified as Paul Fredrick Kayser W/M 22. After a search of the area, officers located a Colt 22 caliber rifle where the suspect was first seen crossing the road. The rifle was later identified as belonging to Gebo’s and was returned to the store.  Kayser was arrested and booked into Randall County on a charge of Burglary of a Building, Evading Arrest/Detention, and Resisting Arrest/Search/Transport.
