Los Angeles County Sheriff's Parks Bureau Mounted Enforcement Detail Deputies Teach A Disabled Group About Patrol Horses

On May 3rd, 2014, the America Wheat Mission, Happy Village, and The Korea Daily Press hosted the Love Festival at Whittier Narrows Regional Park located at 816 Santa Anita Avenue, El Monte.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Parks Bureau Mounted Enforcement Detail Deputies introduce their horses to this group and allowed interaction between the horses and the participants. This allowed the group to experience positive interactions with deputies and to learn more about the horses.
The Festival brings a diverse community who has a shared concern for people with disabilities, their health, and creative education. The Love Festival attracted more than 1,000 attendees. There were also games and events put on by the host.
After the event the Parks Bureau Mounted Enforcement Detail will be patrolling the Park.
The Parks Bureau Mounted Enforcement Detail (M.E.D.) is made up of sworn personnel who are assigned to conduct law enforcement duties from the back of their equine partners. The mission of the Mounted Enforcement Detail is to provide the Department with a well-trained equestrian unit, capable of being utilized in a variety of situations.

The Parks Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department polices 177 county parks, golf courses and special event venues throughout Los Angeles County.
