Daniel Schechter was found deceased. He was located by New York State Police on Slide Mountain in Shandaken, New York. New York State Police are investigating.

The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Port Jefferson man who may be suicidal.
Daniel Schechter, 47, was last seen at his house at 105 Cooper Court yesterday morning at 8:30 a.m. He left in a black 2013 Ford Explorer with New York license plates bearing the number GFF 4095.
His AT&T cell phone was turned off in the area of Woodstock, NY yesterday at 12:01 p.m.
He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 195 pounds and has brown eyes and short gray hair. He was wearing black shoes, black slacks and a light green dress shirt.
Anyone with information about his location is requested to contact Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
