Semi Rolls Over Blocking Toll Road Ramp
Lake Station-A semi driver took the ramp from I-80 east bound to the Indiana Toll Road too fast shifting his load and causing him to roll his semi tractor and trailer over blocking the ramp.
Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Lee Wright revealed that at approximately 12:20 p.m., this Wednesday, April 23, 2014, afternoon, a 2005 Freightliner, owned by Jet Transport out of Chicago, Illinois, and driven by Reymundo C. Ramirez, 47 of Alsip, Illinois took the curved ramp too fast. This caused his trailer carrying a rail container, owned by SPI Red Bluff Millwork out of Red Bluff, California, and loaded with 35,000 pounds of pine wood to shift and roll over onto its driver’s side.
Ramirez was not hurt and no load was lost.
The ramp from I-80 east bound to the Indiana Toll Road was closed until approximately 2:24 p.m., to upright the semi and trailer.
