Full Notification

At 1:11 PM the James Lilley Elementary School located at 1275 Williamstown Road in Gloucester Township was placed in a security “LOCKOUT” (procedure that secures the building perimeter from an external threat, while normal school activities occur inside the school), after students and school officials  heard loud bangs which they thought could be gun shots in the distance.  Gloucester Township Police Officers and school officials quickly responded and secured the school and began investigating.  The investigation revealed that the banging sounds were coming from a nearby construction site.  After approximately 20 minutes the LOCKOUT was lifted normal school activities resumed.  It was determined that the school children were not in danger.  The investigation is continuing.
