Cedar Lake Woman and Hammond Man Arrested for Armed Robbery

Lake County-Two Lake County residents were arrested for Armed Robbery after pulling a gun on a victim that was met over the internet.

Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Rick Strong assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Indiana State Police revealed that the victim (a twenty-nine year old male from Lafayette, Indiana) met a woman over the internet and had visited her once here in Northwest Indiana. The victim met with her again on March 15th, 2014 at the Crown Point exit on I-65. The female, later identified as Amber L. Dovichi, 30 of Cedar Lake, was accompanied by a male. The victim followed the pair in his car to Hammond where he then entered Dovichi’s vehicle and the three drove around. The male, later identified as Joshua Flores, 33 of Hammond, left the vehicle at one point and went into a residence and later returned sitting in the back seat of Dovichi’s vehicle. Flores then allegedly put a gun to the victim’s head and demanded everything in his pockets; to which the victim complied.

The victim was then driven back to his car and given back the keys to his car and left. He then came to the Lowell State Police Post to report what had just happened.

A warrant was issued on March 19th, 2014, for Dovichi and Flores for Armed Robbery and Criminal Confinement. Dovichi was arrested on March 19th at a relative’s residence in Cedar Lake without incident and taken to Lake County Jail in Crown Point.

Flores was located on April 18th, 2014 at a relative’s residence in Hammond by the United States Marshall’s Task Force and Hammond Police and arrested. He too was taken to the Lake County Jail.

Dovichi and Flores were charged with:
Armed Robbery: Class B Felony
Criminal Confinement: Class B Felony

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
