On Thursday, April 10, 2014 the Indiana State Police and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office were dispatched to Big Cedar Road near Cedar Grove, Indiana as a result of a 911 call indicating someone had discovered skeletal remains in the area. The skeletal remains of Katelyn Markham had been found at this site one year ago.
Texas Equusearch reached out to volunteer a search team. They conducted a site search in cooperation with the Indiana State Police and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Solitary human bones were recovered during searches conducted on April 10th and April 19th.
An official determination has not been made as to the identity of the skeletal remains. However, upon initial observation they are believed to belong to Katelyn Markham. A Forensic Anthropologist will conduct a post-mortem examination and confirm the identity of the skeletal remains. The remains were taken to Indianapolis, Indiana on Monday, April 21, 2014.
The Indiana State Police and the Fairfield Police continue working jointly in their investigation into the death of Katelyn Markham. This remains an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time. As the investigation continues, investigators will determine what further information, if any, can be released and that information will then be forwarded to media by Indiana State Police.
