Indiana State Police Lowell Commander Promoted to Major

Lowell, Indiana-Lieutenant Jerry Williams, Lowell District #13 commander was promoted to the rank of Major and transferred to General Headquarters to serve as the Assistant Chief of Staff of Logistics.

Major Williams is a twenty-year veteran of the department.

Williams is a Gary, Indiana native and attended Indiana University Northwest majoring in criminal justice. He graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in December 1993 and was assigned to the Lowell Post, where he worked northern Lake County. He was then assigned to Problem Oriented Policing before going to the Northwest Indiana Gang Task Force. In 2004 he was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to Fiscal and Research Division in Indianapolis (Indiana State Police Headquarters). Williams also worked with Human Resources and was a liaison officer between ISP and the Department of Corrections. He was promoted in 2008 to First Sergeant where he worked as an Internal Investigation Coordinator in the office of Professional Standards before being promoted in 2011 to Lieutenant as Lowell District Commander.

Major Williams graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2013 and was also a Field Training Officer, Tactical Intervention Platoon and attended numerous other training schools during his career.

As the primary staff officer for all matters regarding logistics Major Williams will plan, coordinate, and supervise areas of supply, maintenance, engineering, transportation, Aviation maintenance as well as many other responsibilities for the department.

Major Williams has twin sons who serve as Troopers assigned to the Indianapolis District.
