One Air-Lifted after Single Vehicle Crash

Decatur County: This afternoon a one vehicle crash resulted in the driver being air-lifted. According to Senior Trooper Jason Hankins, at approximately12:45 p.m. a 2013 Toyota Tacoma driven by 81 year old Donald Nelson of Greensburg was eastbound on S.R. 46 between C.R. 300S and C.R. 750W when for unknown reasons the vehicle veered off the edge of the roadway in a curve. The vehicle then rolled several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side. Although Nelson was restrained and airbags deployed, he still suffered a head injury and was bleeding. He was air-cared to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by Stat Flight.

The crash remains under investigation. S/Tpr. Hankins was assisted by Decatur County Sheriff’s Deputies, Burney Fire Department, Greensburg EMS, and Stat Flight.
