Police Blotter April 11th-14th
April 11TH
Credit Card Fraud- San Pablo Avenue and Moeser Lane
At 1000 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The 46 year old male driver from Oakland was on probation for fraud and burglary in two separate counties. The officer conducted a search of the driver and his vehicle and uncovered credit cards in different names and numerous gift cards. The officer also found two laptops, thumb drives, and five credit card scanner/encoder devices. Receipts were found in the car which indicated that the man had recently used the suspected stolen credit cards earlier that morning. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the county jail in Martinez.
Warrant Arrest- Moeser Lane and Richmond Street
At 1720 hours, an officer contacted a suspicious subject lurking in some bushes. The officer arrested the 34 year old homeless man for an outstanding warrant from Solano County for failing to appear in court. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation and a new court date.
Warrant Arrest – 6000 blk of Potrero Ave:
At 2312 hours, an officer arrested a 49 year old male Richmond resident on a misdemeanor warrant held by Fontana County. The man was booked and released on his signed promise to appear.
April 12TH
Attempted theft from Auto / Juvenile Curfew – Terrace Dr. / Balra Avenue:
At 0046 hours, officers responded to the report of two subjects trying to gain entry into vehicles by trying door handles. A 15 year old male, Richmond resident and a 16 year old male, Kensington resident were located in a driveway on Terrace Drive. An investigation revealed that the two were trying to steal from vehicles. Both juveniles were detained, booked and released to their parents.
Auto Burglary- 5700 block of El Dorado Street
At 0745 hours, an officer responded for a report of an auto burglary. An unknown suspect broke the rear window to the victim’s Honda Accord and stole two bags and loose change sometime overnight.
Stolen Vehicle- 5800 block of El Dorado Street
At 1200 hours, an officer responded for a report of a stolen vehicle. An unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2007 VW Passat sometime overnight.
Warrant Arrest- Carlson Boulevard and San Diego Street
At 1347 hours, an officer arrested a 49 year old man from El Cerrito for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for possession of a controlled substance. The officer booked the man and then released him with a citation and a new court date.
DUI Collision- 8300 block of Buckingham Drive
At 1625 hours, officers responded to a report of an injury solo vehicle collision. Upon arrival officers determined that the 49 year old female driver from El Cerrito was possibly under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled substances. The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then taken to county jail in Martinez.
Vehicle Collision with Minor Injuries- San Pablo Avenue and Schmidt Lane
At 1704 hours, officers responded to a report of a two vehicle collision with injuries. The driver of one vehicle was transported to the hospital with a complaint of pain to her head and neck.
April 13TH
Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Avenue and Potrero Avenue
At 1245 hours, an officer contacted a pedestrian and arrested the 27 year old man from Richmond for an outstanding warrant for DUI stemming from an El Cerrito arrest. The officer booked the man at ECPD and then released him with a citation and a new court date.
Driving under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage – 10900 blk of San Pablo Avenue
At approximately 9:19 PM, an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle run a red light and nearly collide with another vehicle. The driver, a 48 year old Oakland man was determined to be driving his vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was booked and released on his signed promise to appear.
April 14TH
Motor Vehicle Theft – 6510 Donal Avenue:
At 04:30 hours, an officer was flagged down regarding the theft of a 1991 Toyota Camry. The theft occurred in between 6:30 PM on April 13th and 04:30 AM on April 14th.
Petty Theft- Burger King 6021 Central Avenue
On Saturday at 0820 hours, officers responded to a report of a laptop theft from Burger King. The victim, believing that another customer was asleep in a nearby booth, left his laptop unattended while he went to the bathroom. When he returned his laptop was stolen. The suspect was described as a black male adult in his 30’s wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a goatee and riding a yellow bicycle. Today, the officer responded to a report of a man down in the 11800 block of San Pablo Avenue. Upon arrival, the officer noticed the similarity between the subject and the suspect described in the laptop theft. The officer interviewed the 34 year old homeless man about the theft and obtained a full confession. The man stated that immediately after he stole the laptop he got onto BART and went to SF and sold the laptop for $50.00. The investigation will be presented to the district attorney’s office for prosecution.
