Weekend Police Blotter April 18th - 20th

April 18TH

Motor Vehicle Evasion - San Pablo Ave. / Wall Ave.
At approx. 13:30 hours, an officer attempted to stop a gold Domestic vehicle for a vehicle code violation. The vehicle immediately fled and subsequently collided with several cars in the area of San Pablo Avenue and Cutting Blvd. It then fled down Cutting Blvd and the wrong way onto the freeway. The driver was a Hispanic male adult, shaved head, thin build approximately 20-30 years old. The pursuit was cancelled almost immediately due to public safety concerns.

Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Avenue and Waldo Avenue
At 2111 hours, an officer contacted a bicyclist and arrested the 37 year old man from Richmond for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for a theft arrest. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation and a new court date.

Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance- Fairmount Avenue and Carlson Boulevard
At 2219 hours, a Sergeant noticed a vehicle weaving in the roadway and conducted a traffic stop. The Sergeant arrested the 35 year old female driver from Richmond for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. During a search, the Sergeant located methamphetamine in her pants pocket. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the county jail in Martinez.

Outside Agency Assistance- 1200 block of Liberty Street
At 2313 hours, Albany PD requested assistance with a hit and run injury collision which occurred on Portland Avenue in Albany. The driver of a Mitsubishi Eclipse struck a motorcyclist and then fled the scene. A records check of the suspect vehicle’s license plate indicated that the registered owner lived in El Cerrito on Liberty Street. ECPD officers went to the address and contacted the suspect who was attempting to conceal the damage to the vehicle with a blanket. An Albany PD officer responded to the location and took the suspect into custody.





April 19TH

Warrant Arrest - Napa County Jail:
At approximately 1330 hours, an El Cerrito officer responded to the Napa County jail and took custody of a subject on an El Cerrito PD warrant. The subject, a 33 year old, Napa resident was transported to the Martinez County Jail.

Controlled Substance and Paraphernalia Possession: Carlson Blvd./ Adams Ct.
At approximately 08:30 hours, an officer arrested a 35 year old transient male for possession of syringes loaded with suspected controlled substances, concentrated cannabis and a pipe used to smoke a controlled substance. He was booked and released per 849 (b) PC pending lab results.

Warrant Arrest – 7400 blk of Seaview Pl.
At approximately 1300 hours, an officer arrested a 20 year old San Jose man on a DUI warrant during a disturbance call for service. The man was booked and cited at the ECPD.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue / Cutting Blvd.
At approximately 1517 hours, an El Cerrito police officer arrested 54 year old male from Richmond, on a DUI warrant during a traffic stop. The male was booked and was transported to the county jail in Martinez.

Criminal Threats- Luckys 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1922 hours officers responded to a report of threats being made towards an employee of Luckys. An officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 39 year old transient man after he threatened to strike a Lucky’s employee. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Hit and Run Injury Collision- Fairmount Avenue and Kearney Street
At 2119 hours officers responded to a report of an injury hit and run collision. The victim was walking across Fairmount Avenue in the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Fairmount Avenue. The vehicle fled westbound on Fairmount Avenue without stopping. The victim was transported to the hospital for examination with minor injuries.

Outside Agency Assistance- 5200 block of Cypress Avenue
At 2203 hours an officer responded to the 5200 block of Cypress Avenue to assist an Albany PD officer who contacted an intoxicated driver who fled from a collision in Albany. The Albany officer arrested the hit and run driver for DUI and fleeing the scene of a collision.


Public Intoxication- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 0058 hours officers responded to a report of a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Safeway. Officers discovered a heavily intoxicated female had fabricated the story and was refusing to leave the store after it was closed. The officer arrested the 46 year old woman from Oakland and transported her to the county jail in Martinez.

Furnishing Alcohol to Minors- 7700 block of Stockton Avenue
At 0145 hours officers were called to a report of a loud party involving underage drinking. Officers arrived and discovered approximately 50 teenagers inside of a home with alcoholic beverages being consumed inside and outside the residence. The host was cited for furnishing alcohol to minors and the officers facilitated safe rides home with the parents of the remaining juveniles.






April 20TH


Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. at Potrero Ave.
At approximately 0910 hours, during a pedestrian contact, an El Cerrito police officer arrested 55 year old male from Solano County on a felony $10K warrant out of Daly City for evading arrest while driving a motor vehicle. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Possession of Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving on a Suspended Driver License – San Pablo Ave at Schmidt Ln.
At approximately 1407 hours, during a traffic stop, an El Cerrito police officer arrested the driver, a 51 year old male from El Cerrito for possession of 2.39 grams of meth, a meth pipe and for driving on a suspended driver license. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Parolee in Possession of Pepper Spray – San Pablo Ave. at Eastshore Blvd.
At approximately 1425 hours, during a traffic enforcement stop, an El Cerrito police officer learned that the driver of the vehicle, a 44 year old male from Antioch, was on parole for armed robbery and was in possession of pepper spray. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Evading police while driving a vehicle and Driving on a Suspended Driver License – I-80/Carlson Blvd.
An El Cerrito police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle after it had exited the I-80 off-ramp at Carlson Blvd. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer. The driver, a 20 year old female from Richmond, finally stopped the vehicle in the 5700 block of Madison Ave. The female had a suspended driver license. The female was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released on a citation.


Non Injury Hit and Run Collision- 7-11 7022 Stockton Avenue
At 1837 hours, an officer responded to a report of a non injury hit and run collision in the parking lot of 7-11. The victim reported their Honda CRV was parked in the lot while they shopped inside and when the returned they noticed that an unknown suspect had backed into their vehicle.
