SANTA ANA, CA – The City of Santa Ana, in partnership with the Grain Project, is hosting two garden workshops later this month: Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden (CSYSG) and Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education (GENE).

All Orange County Teachers, Administrators, Parents, and community volunteers who plan to support community and school garden efforts anywhere in the county are welcome to attend.

While basic gardening techniques will be covered, these workshops are meant to assist community and school garden teams learn how to plan and establish gardening programs and then have the resources and support to successfully and creatively teach from them (to the CA State Standards).

The workshops will be held:
Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden (CSYSG):
Dates: Mondays, April 21st and 28th & Wednesday, April 23rd
Times: 12:15-2:15pm * please plan to attend all 3 sessions (6 hours total for complete training) *
Location: El Salvador Community Center (site of the new El Salvador Community Garden!)

Garden Enhanced Nutrition Education (GENE):
Dates: Tuesdays, April 22nd April 29th & Thursday April 24th
Time: 12:00-2:00pm * please plan to attend all 3 sessions (6 hours total for complete training) *
Location: Madison Elementary (Madison School Garden)

Through these engaging hands-on workshops, explore how to plan for an edible harvest, learn to involve children and youth in safely harvesting and tasting from the garden, discover tools and strategies to enable young people to handle and prepare food safely, and network with others engaged in garden work to share ongoing support.

Talleres de Jardín Comunitario

SANTA ANA , CA - La ciudad de Santa Ana, en colaboración con el Proyecto de Granos , tendrá dos talleres de jardín a finales de este mes : Crear y mantener su jardín de escuela
(CSYSG) y Educación de Nutrición Mejorada (GENE).

Todos los maestros del Condado de Orange, administradores, padres y voluntarios de la comunidad que planean apoyar los esfuerzos de la comunidad y la escuela de jardín en cualquier parte del condado están invitados a asistir.

Mientras que las técnicas básicas de jardinería serán cubiertos, estos talleres tienen el propósito de ayudar a la comunidad y equipos de huerto escolares aprenderán cómo planificar y establecer programas de jardinería y luego tener los recursos y el apoyo para enseñar con éxito y creativa de ellos.

A través de estos atractiva talleres prácticos, explorar la forma de planificar una cosecha comestible, aprender y apoyar a los niños y jóvenes en la cosecha de forma segura y degustación de la huerta, descubrir herramientas y estrategias que permitan a los jóvenes a manejar y preparar los alimentos de forma segura, y establecer contactos con los demás involucrados en el trabajo del jardín para compartir el apoyo continuo.
