On April 17, 2014 Pomona Police Officers and Detectives were able to identify a Pomona transient named Willie Johnson as the suspect who assaulted 73 yr.old Fouad Mokdad at the 7-Eleven store located at 738 E. Holt Ave in the City of Pomona. Officers identified Johnson on store video and later found him walking in the 800 block of W. Holt Ave. A few days earlier, Johnson was captured on store video punching Mokdad in the face. Mokdad was rendered unconscious and taken to the hospital where he had been listed in critical condition. Patrol officers familiar with Johnson immediately identified him in the video. Detectives obtained a written confession from Johnson and were able to file criminal charges on him with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for 245(a)(4) PC Assault Likely to Cause Great Bodily Injury. Mokdad has been released from the hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.
