Chula Vista - Officers from the Chula Vista Police Department conducted a Distracted Driver Operation on Thursday April 17th, 2014 between the hours of 4 PM and 9 PM within the City of Chula Vista.

Distracted driver operations concentrate on drivers talking on their cell phones or texting while operating a motor vehicle.

During this operation, stops were conducted on 69 vehicles. 44 drivers were cited for utilizing their cell phone while driving, 8 drivers were cited for texting. 1 driver was cited for having a suspended driver’s license and 2 drivers were cited for not having a valid driver’s license. 1 driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. 1 vehicle was impounded during the operation.

This was considered a successful operation. The Chula Vista Police Department is continuing its efforts to keep our community safe by encouraging drivers to follow the rules of the road.
