Teacher Arrested for Sexual Involvement with a Minor

Leon Chang, a teacher at San Leandro High School, turned himself into the San Jose Police Department today. Chang was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office for his involvement in a sexual relationship with a teenage minor.

Several months ago the San Leandro Unified School District was notified that Chang may have been having an inappropriate relationship with a minor. School District administrators reported the incident to the San Leandro Police Department who began an investigation into the allegations.

During the investigation, additional information and forensic evidence was located and reviewed. Investigators determined there had been an ongoing sexual relationship that occured between Chang and the teenage minor.

On 04/15/15, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office reviewed this case and charged Chang with two felonies (261.5PC/288.4PC).

Lt. Randall Brandt who leads the Criminal Investigation Division said, "This was a collabarative investigation between our detectives and school administrators. This close working relationship is a force multiplier when it comes to keeping our minors safe."

This is an active investigation and evidence is still being reviewed, therefore no additional details will be released at this time.
