Three Arrested following Concerned Citizen’s Call

Jackson County: Last night at approximately 10:18 p.m. the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles received an anonymous call reporting the strong smell of marijuana coming from 2686 Bentree Lane Apartments in Seymour. Trooper Brent Lykins and Master Trooper Tami Watson responded to the area and while in the parking lot of the apartments were able to smell a very noticeable odor of marijuana. After walking around the building and investigating both floors of apartments the troopers determined the odor was coming from Apartment #101. The troopers then knocked on the door of the apartment and 20 year old Jordan T. Gast of Seymour answered the door. After Gast opened the door the troopers determined they had the correct apartment as the smell was even stronger and they noticed various items of paraphernalia in plain view. Mr. Gast and two other individuals in the apartment, 20 year old Brock L. Wathen and 20 year old Angela R. Bracamonte both also from Seymour were then detained. The troopers were then able to secure a search warrant for the apartment. A subsequent search revealed approximately 184.5 grams of marijuana, various items of paraphernalia, and nearly $1,400 in cash. All three individuals were taken into custody and transported to Jackson County Jail without incident and stand charged as follows:

Jordan T. Gast-Possession of Marijuana-Over 30 grams (Class D Felony), Dealing in Marijuana (Class D Felony), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor), and Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Class D Felony)
Brock L. Wathen-Possession of Marijuana-Over 30 Grams (Class D Felony) and Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor)
Angela L. Bracamonte-Possession of Marijuana-Over 30 Grams (Class D Felony) and Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor)

Master Trooper Watson commented, “Just goes to show that community involvement pays off.” Tpr. Lykins echoed her comment and expressed his great appreciation for the cooperation of the public for their concern. Anyone who has information regarding ongoing drug offenses or any other criminal activity is encouraged to contact the Indiana State Police. As was the case in this incident, the reporting party can remain anonymous.

Also assisting were Troopers Seth Davidson and Matt Powell.

Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Media note: Photos of the three individuals may be available by contacting the Jackson County Jail.
