Simi Valley Police Arrest Suspect for Driving Stolen Vehicle

On April 12, 2014, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Officer McCollum was on routine patrol when she observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sycamore Dr. and Highway 118. Based on her observations, Officer McCollum conducted a routine records check on the vehicle and learned that the vehicle was reported stolen from the City of Camarillo. Once it was confirmed that the vehicle was stolen, Simi Valley Patrol Officers conducted a high risk stop and detained the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, Robert Ullom (12-20-64) without incident.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that in addition to Ullom driving a stolen vehicle he was also in possession of a switchblade knife. Ullom was booked for 10851(a) V.C. – Driving a Stolen Vehicle and 21510 P.C. – Possession of a Switchblade Knife and later booked at a Ventura County Sheriff Detention Facility.

This investigation is a great example of the proactive work efforts that your Simi Valley Police Department strives towards every day. Officer McCollum’s heads up police work resulted in locating and arresting an armed stolen vehicle suspect and the safe return of a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck to its owner.
