Chula Vista - Officers from the Chula Vista Police Department conducted a Distracted Driver Operation on Thursday April 10th, 2014 between the hours of 4 PM and 9 PM within the City of Chula Vista.

Distracted driver operations concentrate on drivers talking on their cell phones or texting while operating a motor vehicle.

During this operation, stops were conducted on 88 vehicles. 60 drivers were cited for utilizing their cell phone while driving, 15 drivers were cited for texting. An additional 9 citations were written for various hazardous moving violations including speeding, red light and violation of posted signs. 1 driver was cited for having a suspended driver’s license and 1 vehicle was impounded due to the driver having a suspended driver’s license.

This was considered a successful operation. The Chula Vista Police Department is continuing its efforts to keep our community safe by encouraging drivers to follow the rules of the road.
