On Wednesday, April 9th at approximately 9:20 pm, deputies from Palmdale Station arrested 27 year-old Palmdale resident Omar Hernandez on suspicion of Kidnapping and Attempt Murder.
The day before Hernandez assaulted his roommate by hitting her over the head with an unknown object. Due to the amount of force, the victim was immediately knocked unconscious. When the victim came to, Hernandez began strangling and punching her in the face causing her to go unconscious again. Hernandez placed her into the back of his SUV and began to drive away. The victim again gained consciousness and was able to open the rear hatch of the vehicle and jump out of the SUV while it was being driven by Hernandez. The victim was able to make her escape from the vehicle in the area of 25th St E and Avenue S, in the City of Palmdale. A 14 year-old Good Samaritan saw the victim, who was in obvious need of medical attention, and called call “911." Deputies and paramedics responded immediately. The victim was transported to the hospital with severe injuries.
Hernandez was transported and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff Station. He was booked on charges of Attempt Murder and Kidnapping with a bail amount of $1,000,000. Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, April 11th at the Antelope Valley Courthouse.
