#LASD reminding you that it's not worth it! Texting + Driving = Danger

As part of April’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month campaign, Norwalk Sheriff’s Station will be joining the California Highway Patrol and over 200 law enforcement agencies across the state in high visibility enforcement operations during April’s National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The enforcement and education campaign is aimed at curbing those texting or operating hand-held cell phones, and similar devices, while driving. Deputies will be on alert throughout the month for those who break the cell phone laws and place themselves and others in danger. Operations to cite cell phone violators will be taking place in the cities of Norwalk and La Mirada.

The increased enforcement and education aims to persuade drivers to recognize the dangers of distracted driving and reduce the number of people impacted by this perilous behavior. The California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), “It’s Not Worth It!” theme emphasizes that a phone call or text isn’t worth a hefty fine or a collision.
