Details:
Gilroy Police Detectives continue to investigate this crime around the clock. As a result of this investigation; and based on preliminary information from the medical examiner’s office, this suspicious death investigation is being classified as a homicide. The victim has been identified as 74 year old Dorris Mae Knap, a city of Gilroy Resident. Gilroy Police Detectives are continuing with their investigation, and continue to follow up on leads. No further information will be released at this time.

VICTIM1: Withheld – 74 year old female, Gilroy Resident
Details:
On April 1, 2014 at approximately 6:31 pm, Gilroy Police Officers responded to a residence on the 1400 Block of Bristlecone Court for a report of an unconscious female.
Officers arrived a short-time after and located the victim suffering trauma to her upper body. A family member was on scene as police officers arrived. Gilroy Fire Department emergency medical personnel also arrived and initiated lifesaving efforts on the victim. These efforts were met with negative results, and unfortunately the victim succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced deceased on scene by Gilroy Fire Personnel.
This investigation is on-going and being treated as a suspicious death. Investigators continue to gather facts, interview witnesses and are currently evaluating a variety of leads. The victim’s identity is being withheld until proper notifications are made.
