Announces an Arrest for:
First Degree Murder,
Assault With a Deadly Weapon With the Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury (2 Counts)

The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrest of Je’Core Rayshad McKoy, age 22 of Pinebluff, North Carolina for First Degree Murder, Assault With a Deadly Weapon With the Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury (2 Counts). These charges are a result of an investigation conducted by the Southern Pines Police Department for the homicide which occurred on October 27, 2013 at Leather Pockets Billiards, 115 Turner Street in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Maurice Donnell White was the victim of this homicide.

On March 20, 2014, the Southern Pines Police Department along with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and the Pinehurst Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant in Taylortown, North Carolina. At the time of this search warrant execution, Je’Core Rayshad McKoy was arrested and charged with Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Maintaining a Dwelling for a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. For these charges, Je’Core Rayshad McKoy is presently being held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $60,000 secure bond.

For the charges of First Degree Murder and Assault With a Deadly Weapon With the Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury (2 Counts), Je’Core Rayshad McKoy appeared before a Moore County Magistrate following his arrest on April 4, 2014 and was incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center where he is being held without bond pending hearing on April 22, 2014 in Moore County District Court.
