Earthquakes Get Your Attention? Take Action Now! Who Do You Follow on Social Media? #LAQuake #SCV #LASD
IMPORTANT: ARE YOU PREPARED IF A DISASTER HITS LOS ANGELES COUNTY?
Different types of disasters can affect a different array of people. Some, such as an earthquake, can affect many people over a wide area and others, such as flooding or a windstorm, can affect less people and a smaller area. Results of any disasters might include power lines down, closed roads, water and power outages, and a limited ability to make repairs needed to restore normal conditions for many days or over a week. Even if only a few people are affected, if it's you, it's 100%.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is the new six o’clock news, reaching around the world in record time. Almost everyone is using social media to communicate and share information. This is not a fad. Social media is becoming a norm in the way people and organizations communicate and interact. New inventions like the telephone and the Internet were once thought to be just passing trends, but both have proven to be lasting realities; the same may be true of social media.
You will need to be able to stay connected in the event of a disaster. Don’t take charging your phone for granted. Make sure you have a source of power to charge and get a portable cell phone or laptop charger. You could use a generator or your car charger. Remember, the power could be out for an extended period after a disaster.

BE PREPARED
Assemble an emergency supply kit, make your emergency plans, stay informed, and get involved in helping your family, your business, and your community be ready for emergencies.
How prepared are you? It’s a matter of when - not if - the next emergency occurs. Preparedness is a responsibility we all share. Let's all do our part. Top priorities are shelter, food, water, and power, but there is a lot more to it.
