Weekend Police Blotter March 28 - March 31

Friday March 28th


Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and a Controlled Substance- San Pablo Avenue and Tehama Avenue
At 0847 hours, officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision into a building. Upon arrival, officers discovered that there had not been a collision however the vehicle was awkwardly parked and the engine was running. The driver, a 30 year old man from North Hollywood, was asleep behind the wheel and occasionally his foot would push on the accelerator and rev the engine to its maximum rpm. An officer was eventually able to wake the man and have him perform field sobriety tests. The officer arrested the man for DUI and upon searching the vehicle the officer located a bottle of oxycodone pills prescribed to somebody else. A records check revealed the man was driving with a suspended license for a previous DUI offense. The man also had an outstanding warrant from San Jose PD for three counts of forging/fraudulent prescriptions. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito police department and transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Fraudulent US currency and Narcotics Paraphernalia- CVS 670 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1256 hours, officers responded to a report from CVS that a woman had attempted to pay for merchandise with two fraudulent $10 bills. An officer located the suspect waiting at the bus stop on San Pablo Avenue and Carlson Boulevard. The officers arrested the 43 year old woman from Richmond after he found $1,500 in fraudulent small U.S. bills in her possession. The secret service was contacted and notified of the incident. The officer booked the woman at ECPD and the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.

Public Intoxication- Carrows Restaurant 6120 Potrero Avenue
At 1539 hours, officers responded to a report of an intoxicated male subject inside the restaurant causing a disturbance. An officer arrested the highly intoxicated 65 year old transient male for public intoxication after the man couldn’t stand up and support himself. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Saturday March 29th

Robbery- Necycle Recyclers located to the rear of Luckys in the El Cerrito Plaza
A 1320 hours, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the recycle business located near the BART path behind Luckys in the plaza. The victim reported an unknown race/age male suspect wearing all black with a mask covering most of his face approached and told the recycling attendant that he had a gun under his sweatshirt and demanded money. The suspect held his hand under his sweatshirt simulating a pistol. The attendant gave the suspect cash and the suspect fled on foot southbound along the BART path towards Albany.

Warrant Arrest- Manila Avenue and the BART path
At 1419 hours, an officer contacted a subject pushing a shopping cart full of recycleables along the BART path. The officer arrested the 43 year old man from Hayward for a warrant from CDC for a parole violation for the original charge of burglary. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Avenue and Wall Avenue
At 1429 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 56 year old male passenger from Richmond for a probation violation warrant out of Marin County for theft and driving on a suspended license. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Residential Burglary and Warrant Arrest- 6500 block of Knott Avenue
At 1507 hours, officers responded to a report from a citizen of a suspicious circumstance. The alert citizen immediately phoned 911 after seeing two subjects in their late 30’s take something from a garage and leave on foot northbound along the BART path from Knott Avenue. An officer was quickly on scene and noticed a suspicious subject that matched the description of one of the subjects at Macdonald’s and detained the 34 year old man from Richmond. The man had numerous miscellaneous items in his possession and was also on probation for burglary out of Contra Costa County. A records check revealed the man had a probation violation warrant for burglary out of San Mateo County. Through his investigation, the officer was able to confirm that all of the items in the suspect’s possession were stolen from the garage of the victim’s residence. All of the stolen property was returned to the victim and the officer booked the suspect at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the officer transported the man to the county jail in Martinez.

Stolen License Plates- Denny’s 11344 San Pablo Avenue
At 1705 hours, an officer responded for a report of stolen license plates. The victim reported that an unknown suspect had stolen the license plates to his 1996 Toyota Corolla sometime in the last 24 hours.

Driving under the influence of an Alcoholic Beverage - 100 blk of San Carlos Avenue:
At approximately 18:38 hours, an officer was dispatched to the report of a big rig blocking the roadway on San Carlos Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, a 40 year old Syracuse, NY male, was found to under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and prescription medication. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility Center.

Sunday March 30th
Warrant Arrest- 10650 San Pablo Avenue
At 1251 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 49 year old female passenger for two outstanding warrants out of Richmond and Napa County Sheriff’s for possession of narcotics and theft. The officer booked the woman at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported her to the county jail in Martinez.

Driving under the influence of an Alcoholic Beverage - San Pablo Ave/ Moeser Lane
At approximately 0046 hours, an El Cerrito Police officer arrested a 60 year old male resident of El Cerrito for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The man was booked and cite released.

Driving under the influence of an Alcoholic Beverage – Key Blvd. / Humboldt Avenue
At approximately 0100 hours, El Cerrito Police officers were dispatched to the report of a vehicle colliding with a parked vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 54 year old Richmond woman was determined to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was booked and released to the custody of a sober friend.

Strong Arm Robbery – 5700 blk of El Dorado Street
At approximately 2300 hours, Officers responded to the report of a robbery at the listed address. The victim reported that he was accosted by two black males, both approximately 20 years old and both about 5’09” and 150 lbs. The suspects punched the male victim in the face and stole cash and a cellular telephone then fled the area on foot.



Monday March 31st
Warrant Arrest- Behind CVS Pharmacy 10650 San Pablo Avenue
At 0848 hours, an officer contacted a suspicious subject behind the CVS Pharmacy store. The officer arrested the 45 year old man from Richmond for an outstanding warrant for violating the terms of his probation stemming from felony convictions for theft and resisting police. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the county jail in Martinez.

Residential Burglary: 3000 blk of Carlson Blvd.
In between 0700 -1830 hours, an unidentified suspect forced open the front door of this residence. Once inside, unidentified suspects took a small flat screen TV and fled.

Terrorizing Threats - 11100 San Pablo Avenue: At approximately 2100 hours, officers responded to the report of a man trying to break into a business. The lone female employee was about to leave for the day when she noticed a subject, later identified as 23 year old, male Richmond resident coming across the parking lot towards her. She quickly locked herself in the store and he began to shake the door of the studio so violently that it activated the alarm while screaming threats at her and armed with what she thought was a bat. Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody. He was transported to the MDF.
