Industry Station Deputy Honored at Heroes Prayer Breakfast

On February 27, the San Gabriel Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce held its Second Annual Heroes Prayer Breakfast in the City of Diamond Bar. Community leaders, elected officials, and the local business community joined members of the Chamber of Commerce in recognizing local Fire Department, Law Enforcement, Military and EMT "Heroes" for their extraordinary work in the San Gabriel Valley. This year Industry Station's own Deputy Eloise Mayo was honored for her service and her work with the youths of Industry Station's patrol area.

Deputy Mayo, assigned to the Youth Activities League, quickly became an important part in the lives of the local youth. Through her efforts, Industry Station planned a successful trip to Camp C.O.U.R.A.G.E. a camping experience designed for local youth to combat the influence of gangs and drugs. During the camping experience, she provided leadership and guidance to not only the boys who attended, but especially the young girls at the camp by establishing herself as a "big sister" who could serve as a role model.

Throughout 2013, Deputy Mayo reached out and impacted the lives of several people in the community. She assisted in coordinating the Industry Hills Pro Rodeo, an event that has donated nearly $2 million to special children in need in the greater San Gabriel Valley area. During the winter holidays, Deputy Mayo donated her time and efforts to Viking Charities to make and deliver holiday food baskets to those in need.

Captain Timothy Murakami said "Truly, Deputy Mayo's efforts were deserving of this award. She has consistently gone above and beyond to positively impact the lives of our local community residents."

If you are interested in participating in Camp C.O.U.R.A.G.E., please contact the Industry Sheriff's Station Youth Activities League at 626 934-3315 or 626 330-3322.
