Women Confronts Subject with a Gun as he enters her Home

On 03-26-14, a 31 year-old female resident in the 7700 blk. of Glenville Rd., Glenville, PA was in her home when a person unknown to her began to kick in her front door. She reacted by retrieving a handgun that she owns and one that she trains with on a regular basis. She also called York County 911 and advised what was occurring, fearing a burglary was in progress. The W/M subject who was at her front door eventually kicked in her front door and entered her home. She was the only person at home at the time.

She leveled the firearm at the subject and told him not to come any closer. He obeyed her order. An officer arrived 4 minutes after the call was made. The officer found the W/M suspect on the front porch of a neighbor’s home. That subject is Cory R. Gootee, 19, of Stewartstown, PA. An in depth interview with the suspect revealed that just prior to his confrontation, he had been at a neighbors home and had left to smoke a cigarette. He became disoriented as to which home he had come from, and believed that he had been locked out of the residence where he had come from. The story was plausible and the victim only wanted the more minor charges levied in the case as well as the repair to her door.

It is believed that intoxicants may have been involved as for the reason that the suspect becoming disoriented. The female resident acted appropriately and with good courage. Criminal Mischief charges have been filed.
