Arrest Made in Murders of Wendy Camp, Cynthia Britto, Lisa Kregear

This morning, Beverly Noe (d.o.b. 3/24/1947) was arrested for the murders of 23-year-old Wendy Camp, her six-year-old daughter Cynthia Britto, and Camp’s sister-in-law Lisa Kregear, 22. The three have been missing since May 29, 1992, after visiting Camp’s son at the home of her ex-husband Chad Noe in Shamrock, Oklahoma. Beverly Noe is Chad’s mother. Creek County District Attorney investigators arrested her after making a traffic stop approximately one mile west of Drumright. She will be booked into the Creek County jail in Sapulpa.

May 29, 1992, Beverly Noe picked up Camp, Britto, and Kregear in Oklahoma City to take them to see Camp’s son. The three never returned. Beverly told investigators she dropped off the trio at a Wal-Mart in Chandler. Extensive interviews of everyone working at that store and neighboring businesses revealed the three were not seen in the area on that date.

Last year, Beverly Noe’s brother revealed to Creek County District Attorney investigators that the bodies might be buried on property his mother once owned northwest of Terlton. Those investigators and OSBI agents found the site Grover Prewitt, Jr. spoke of and excavated three bodies. Prewitt was arrested for accessory after the fact – first degree murder. In January, the medical examiner’s office positively identified the skeletal remains as those of Camp, Britto, and Kregar. Earlier this month, the medical examiner also determined they were all homicide victims.

In the past year, investigators collected information pointing to Beverly Noe and her mother Ida Prewitt as having killed the three. Prewitt died several years ago. In a recorded conversation between Grover Prewitt and Beverly Noe, Noe made several revealing statements including information about the gun she used in the homicides.

OSBI hopes this arrest brings solace to the victims’ families although it has taken two decades to find the bodies and make an arrest. As it should, courts demand solid evidence of such a crime prior to prosecution.
