Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding the discovery of human remains in a ravine near Highway 138 and Old Ridge Route Road, Gorman.

On Sunday, March 16, 2014, Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel recovered the skeletal remains of what is believed to have been a male adult.

Based on evidence recovered from the scene, detectives have determined the victim did not die as a result of the Pine fire, which initially ignited on Friday, March 14, 2014. Detectives believe foul play was involved and that the victim's body has been at the location for an extended period of time, possibly up to four years.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner will attempt to identify the remains and the cause of death at a later date.
