Announces Arrest for:
Breaking and Entering and
Resist, Delay, Obstruct a Public Officer
The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrest of Harry Luther Heaton II, 29 years of age, of Southern Pines, North Carolina on the above charges. This arrest stems from an investigation conducted by the Patrol and Investigation Divisions of the Southern Pines Police Department on February 28, 2014. While conducting surveillance in the area of E. Massachusetts Avenue, Harry Luther Heaton II was observed by officers riding a bicycle on E. Massachusetts Ave. An officer attempted to make contact with Harry Luther Heaton II at which time he fled on foot from the investigating officers. During this foot pursuit, Harry Luther Heaton II entered a residence in the 500 Block of E. Massachusetts Avenue in an attempt to elude officers. Officers were searching the home where Harry Luther Heaton II had entered and he once again fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, Harry Luther Heaton II was apprehended.
Following this arrest, the Southern Pines Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at the residence of Harry Luther Heaton II, located at 785 E. Massachusetts Avenue in Southern Pines. This investigation remains open and ongoing. The Southern Pines Police Department is requesting that the media refrain from publishing any photographs of Harry Luther Heaton II as it may interfere with on-going criminal investigations.
Harry Luther Heaton II appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under $3,500 secured bond pending hearing on March 25, 2014 in Moore County District Court.
