Area Flood Advisory To Continue
The Flood Advisory issued by the National Weather Service on 02/28/2014 at 3:10 AM will continue through 10 AM. The advisory from the NWS is:
"AT 647 AM PST RADAR AND RAIN GAGES CONTINUED TO INDICATE MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN AND COASTAL FOOTHILLS AND LIGHT RAIN ELSEWHERE. THERE HAVE BEEN SOME REPORTS OF FLOODING ON LOCAL FREEWAYS WITH UP TO 3 FEET OF STANDING WATER ON THE 405 FREEWAY NEAR THE SANTA MONICA BLVD OFF-RAMP EARLIER THIS MORNING. AREAS OF RAINFALL RATES OF ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF INCH PER HOUR WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH HAVE OCCURRED OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS AND IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE MORNING. THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS...WHICH COULD PRODUCE HIGHER RAINFALL RATES. THE RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE WIDESPREAD AND SIGNIFICANT PONDING OF WATER ON AREA ROADWAYS WITH SOME FLOODING IN LOW LYING AREAS AND INTERSECTIONS. THE RAIN MAY SEND LOOSE ROCKS AND BOULDERS ONTO ROADWAYS BELOW STEEP TERRAIN."
