The Jackson Police Department is investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred around 12:30 p.m. on N. Highland at the intersection of Harris Drive. Jane C. Norvell, 65, of Jackson, was operating a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier from west on Harris Drive. She was attempting to turn left to south on Highland when she was struck in the driver’s side by a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix. The Grand Prix was traveling north in the inside lane and was being driven by Sandy Lytle, 55, of Jackson.
Mrs. Norvell died a short time later at Jackson- Madison County General Hospital from her injuries. Mrs. Lytle is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
According to witnesses, Mrs. Norvell pulled across the lane of travel leading to the accident. Mrs. Norvell was wearing a seat belt, and Mrs. Lytle was not. The investigation is continuing.
