Community Interest:

In an effort to continually stay ready and deliver police services in an eco-friendly manner, the El Cerrito Police Department tries to have officers ride police bicycles as frequently as possible. The bicycles provide officers with quick access along pedestrian paths and throughout the City, and help in maintaining the officers’ physical fitness. We consider the bicycle officers as an excellent resource for spotting crime, handling calls for service, and responding to questions and concerns from our residents.

Some officers can also ride dual sport motorcycles while on patrol. These motorcycles are in addition to the three Harley Davidson motorcycles assigned to our traffic officers. The dual sport motorcycles are smaller and allow our officers to access off-road paths, nature areas, and trails where an officer in a car or on foot cannot traverse. The dual sport motorcycles are another innovative way in which the El Cerrito Police Department delivers service to our citizens.
