San Mateo Police are looking for a man who solicited a teenage girl on Tuesday morning in the unit block of North Claremont Street. The victim, a 15 year-old San Mateo Resident, was standing on the sidewalk when the suspect approached her from behind and spoke to her in Spanish, soliciting her for sex. The victim refused the request, and was able to leave the area. SMPD Officers responded to the area of the incident at about 8:20 am, within a few minutes of the incident, and made a thorough check of the area for the suspect – a Hispanic male in his 40’s wearing a dark colored heavy jacket and jeans, with dark hair and a thick moustache. The subject was about 5’4 in height with a medium build. He was not located, but officers were able to obtain video surveillance form a nearby store, and confirmed the man in the video was the suspect in this case. Both the victim and the store owner where the video was located told police that the suspect appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
