On 12/20/13, a shooting occurred at the Bayfair Center in San Leandro. The victim was transported to the hospital and was treated for nonlife threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to our arrival and we distributed a press release summarizing the incident.

Our investigators have worked tirelessly on this case developing leads and working with other law enforcement agencies. Our investigators were successful in identifying the shooting suspect as Jacob Travenia and they developed information that he may be living in San Antonio Texas. Our Detectives were able to confirm his whereabouts with local authorities and we obtained an arrest warrant for Travenia for attempted murder. Our detectives also determined Travenia was staying with a female associate Brandy Halsell. Our staff shared this information with investigators from the San Antonio Police Department.

On 02/11/14, members of the San Antonio Police Department located and arrested Travenia for the December Bayfair Center shooting. Halsell was with Travenia and she was arrested for harboring a wanted felon (Travenia).

Travenia and Halsell will soon be extradited back to California where they will be formally arraigned.

Lt. Randall Brandt stated, “This was a senseless act that occurred in a parking lot during holiday shopping. Our detectives were determined to identify the suspect and hold him accountable for his actions. This would not have been possible without the cooperation of several other law enforcement agencies.”
