The City of Park Ridge, Illinois is Again Named One of the Safest Communities in the Nation
The Park Ridge Police Department was notified this week by representatives from Location, Inc. that Park Ridge was included in the Top 100 Safest Communities in the nation for the second year in a row. Location, Inc. is a leading builder and source of location-based data and risk analysis information. Location, Inc. provides crime data and other information to neighborhoodscout.com and uses that information to identify the safest communities across the country. Park Ridge ranked 75th overall this year and is 8th among the 14 other Illinois communities listed in the Top 100. The study indicated that Park Ridge is considered to be safer than 67% of the cities across the nation with populations of 25,000 or more. The real estate research firm identified the nation’s 100 safest towns based on the number of property crimes and violent crimes per 1,000 residents reported in 2012. Those crimes include burglary, larceny-theft, vehicle theft, homicide, forcible rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault. The study indicated that the chance of becoming a victim of violent crime in Park Ridge is 1 in 1,712 while chances of becoming a victim statewide was 1 in 241.
