SCAM ALERT: Computer remote access scams.
Highlighted Scams
Scam 1: Victim received a phone call from a subject claiming to be from Microsoft. Subject requested information which provided remote access into the victim’s computer.
Scam 2: Victim received a phone call from a subject named “Jason” advising their home computer had been compromised through Windows operating system. Victim was requested to go to a website which would then allow remote access into the victim’s computer.
TIPS TO PREVENT BECOMING A VICTIM:
No company will telephone you and request remote access into your home computer system.
Never pay money from your bank account or through money wire payments or payment cards like Green Dot, MoneyPak, PayPal, or any other cards or form of payment unless it is to someone you trust and are familiar with.
Never provide personal information over the phone or by email unless you are confident it is to a reliable source.
Be suspicious of anyone asking you to send money.
