Advisory

Declaration of Disaster Emergency and Roadway Travel Restrictions to expire at 2PM today.

Hempfield Township is pleased to declare that the roadway travel restrictions that were scheduled to continue through 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 will be lifted at 2:00 p.m. today, February 14, 2014. This has been made possible due to the acquisition of anti-skid material and the emergency allotment of 100 tons of road salt from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Additionally, the travel restrictions reduced traffic which permitted the Department of Public Works easier travel to plow the over 300 miles of roads maintained by Hempfield Township.

The Declaration of Disaster Emergency that was signed by the Township Board of Supervisors has been rescinded because the critical situation that was potentially detrimental to life safety has been alleviated. Hempfield Township’s road crews will still be treating the roadways in conservation mode. During this situation only hills, intersections, and dangerous curves receive treatment material. All roadway surfaces are still plowed in this conservation mode.

In closing, the Declaration of Disaster Emergency and roadway travel restrictions in the Township of Hempfield will expire at 2:00 p.m. today, February 14, 2014. The Township Supervisors encourage the residents of Hempfield Township to enjoy their Valentine’s Day festivities.
