Advisory

Winter Storm Warning Continues Through 6AM Friday, February 14th

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for our area until 6AM Friday, February 14th.

The light freezing rain, sleet and snow will change to all snow this evening and become heavy at times. Additional snow accumulation of 4-9 inches is expected along with about 1/10” of ice. Total snow accumulation will be in the range of 16-22 inches.

Snow is expected to fall at a rate of 1-3” per hour tonight. Blizzard-like conditions are forecast and visibilities will be one-quarter mile or less at times. Winds will be between 15-25 MPH, with gusts to 35 MPH. A few rumbles of thunder are possible tonight as well. The snow is expected to taper off after midnight, and temperatures will be around 30 degrees.

The roadways will remain very treacherous therefore please continue to limit your travels to emergency or vital needs only. The heavy wet snow may bring down some tree limbs and power lines. Treat all downed power lines as live. Weak, flat roof structures may also be susceptible to collapse if not cleared of snow and ice.

The North Castle Highway Department continues to plow the snow throughout the duration of this storm. Do not park on roadways or in cul-de-sacs overnight so that the roadways can be cleared. The Town snow ordinance prohibits parking on roadways between the hours of 1AM and 6AM.

You can help the Fire Departments too by removing snow from around fire hydrants in your neighborhood.

A warming shelter will be opened should the need arise. If you need this resource, please contact the North Castle Police Department at 914-273-9500.

Electrical outages can be reported to Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).
