The Coroner’s Office is in the process of identifying the skeletal remains recovered on February 4, 2014 and February 5, 2014, by the FBI Technical Dive Team. Based on the location of where the remains were found, the Coroner’s Office believes the remains are those of a subject whose vehicle was found 21 years ago parked on the bridge, with its engine running.

At that time, a search for the subject was conducted by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, however the subject was never located. It was presumed that the subject committed suicide by jumping off the bridge.

The Coroner’s Office is working closely with the family of the presumed deceased in an effort to confirm the identification of the recovered remains.

The name of the presumed deceased is being withheld pending identification.
