The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from Midnight tonight (February 12, 2014) until 6:00 am Friday morning (February 14, 2014).

Snow will move into the area overnight and continue throughout the day before tapering off Thursday night. Snow accumulations are expected to be 8-12 inches.

Snow fall rates could be as much as one inch per hour, reducing visibility. The snow will be wet and heavy possibly causing downed trees and power lines.

Road conditions will be extremely hazardous for both the morning and evening commute on Thursday. Please stay off the roads if possible.

Recycling collection at the curb in Section 4 has been cancelled for tomorrow, Thursday, February 13. The Recycling Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 am until 3 pm for those residents wishing to dispose of their recyclables. The Center is also open on Saturdays from 9 am to 12:30 pm and on Sundays from Noon until 3:30 pm.

The Borough’s snow removal trucks will plow each street curb to curb during this snowfall. Please make every effort to remove cars parked in the roadway during the storm and until the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.

Residents are also reminded that a Borough Ordinance prohibits the shoveling, placing, throwing or blowing of snow into or upon any street in Fair Lawn. The Borough would also like to remind residents that for the safety and welfare of our residents, please attempt to clear snow around fire hydrants and crosswalks.
