On 02/06/14, approximately 11:30 AM, a resident in the 500 block of West Merle Court arrived home and noticed the front door to their residence was ajar. The alert citizen feared someone may be inside her residence committing a burglary. She immediately went to a neighbor’s residence and reported the incident to our dispatch center. The suspect attempted to run away from our officers and was detained without incident. The suspect (Bernard Curry) was arrested and transported to jail.

The personal safety of the community is paramount. We encourage the San Leandro community to record the details of what they observe and to report those details to the Police. This type of community involvement and partnership has proven to be a very effective crime prevention tool.
