The Public Works Department, in an effort to conserve its remaining salt supply, has begun mixing sand and aggregate with the salt. Even with this effort, applications of this aggregate mixture or of straight rock salt will be cut back to an absolute minimum: signalized intersections, major hills and major curves will be our primary focus.

With the reduction in the de-icing materials application, plowing operations will be more frequent than normal on side streets, in an attempt to reduce the accumulation of snow from multiple snow fall events and in an attempt to avoid ice pack. However, with the reduced use of de-icing materials, snow and ice build-up will occur and winter driving conditions will exist. Drivers are advised to drive with caution and allow for extra stopping distance.
