Arrests made for narcotic and weapons violations

On 02/02/2014, at approximately 0620 hours, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Detective Unit with the assistance of the SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 900 block of Leddy Avenue in Santa Rosa. Detectives detained eight people inside the house. Detectives ended up arresting the resident, Edward Alexis Martinez, 28 years old, for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of an Assault Weapon. Flex John Miller Jr., 25 years old, of Santa Rosa, was arrested for Delaying/Resisting Officers, along with Nicholas Brian Hoffman, 25 years old, of Healdsburg, who was arrested for two Felony No Bail arrest warrants.

The case unfolded when Detectives received a tip that Edward Martinez was selling drugs and guns from his house. Martinez is a gang associate and he was arrested by MAGNET (Gang Officers) this past November for Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Martinez was out on bail on his previous arrest, but missed court on 01/27/2014, and a warrant was being obtained for his arrest.

Detectives were concerned for their safety with serving the search warrant based on Martinez’s past criminal history, his gang ties, and possessing weapons. Detectives requested the SWAT Team serve the search warrant. During the service of the search warrant, the SWAT Team had to deal with three aggressive Pit Bull dogs. The Pit Bulls were eventually placed into a Sonoma County Animal Control vehicle. Miller would not comply with SWAT Team Officers to come out of the house, but was eventually arrested for Delaying/Resisting arrest. Detectives located methamphetamine on Martinez. Also, an AK-47 assault weapon was located and linked to Martinez.

All three arrestees were booked at the county jail. Edward Martinez’ bail was set at $200,000. Felix Miller Jr. bail was set at $2,500 and Nicholas Hoffman had no bail, because of his warrants.
