Suspect Arrested for Dec. 30 Marina del Rey Murder of Patrick Odoikyene

A suspect has been charged in the December 30, 2013 murder of Patrick Odoikyene in Marina Del Rey.

 

Suspect Byron Keith Street, a 47 year-old resident of Inglewood, will be arraigned at LAX Court on Thursday, January 30, 2014 for Murder, Burglary, Felony Vandalism, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.   

 

The suspect was arrested for an unrelated felony Fraud charge by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies at the direction of Sheriff’s Homicide detectives the day after the murder.  He is currently being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

 

Detectives continued to investigate the crime, ultimately filing charges today, Tuesday, January 28, 2014.

Suspect Wanted for Homicide: 4200 blk Via Marina Dr., Marina Del Rey -Mon., 12/30/12

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a man that occurred on Monday, December 30, 2013, in Marina Del Rey.

This suspect is wanted for the murder of Patrick Odoikyene, a uniformed private security officer, who was working at the 4200 block of Via Marina Drive, Marina Del Rey.

The suspect was last seen running from the location towards Dell Alley and the 3400 block of Via Dolce Street, Los Angeles.

The suspect is described as: An African-American male, stocky/muscular build, shaved head, goatee, with a medium complexion.

Age: Late 30's to Mid 40's.
Height: 5'10'' - 6'01
Clothing: Long sleeved pullover black or blue hooded sweat shirt with white logo lettering on the front and back, and black pants.

The victim in the Marina Del Rey shooting has been identified as Patrick Odoikyene, MB/47, resident of South Los Angeles.

UPDATED INFORMATION

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man that occurred on Monday, December 30, 2013, in the 4200 block of Via Marina Court, Marina Del Rey.

Deputies from the Marina Del Rey Sheriff's Station responded to the location regarding a shots fired call. When they arrived at the apartment complex, they observed the Victim (M/B 47) lying in the front parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. It was determined that the Victim was an unarmed security guard who worked at the apartment complex.

The Victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Victim's identity will be released after the next of kin has been properly notified.

Witnesses heard multiple gunshots. An adult male Black, wearing dark clothing and a dark hooded sweatshirt, was seen running from the scene.
