A Boil Advisory is now in effect for all Centerville Water customers until further notice
The Centerville Water Utility has issued a Boil Advisory effective immediately and until further notice. Water from the utility used for drinking, brushing teeth and all food preparation is to be boiled prior to consumption. Untreated household water may be used for bathing and washing clothes. Hot soapy water can be used for dish washing and kitchen/bathroom surface cleaning. As a precaution, add one tablespoon of bleach per gallon of water.
Tap water to be used for cooking or drinking should be brought to a full rolling boil for two to three minutes. Once boiled, cover the container with a lid and allow the water to cool. Boiled water may be safety stored in a sealed container or pitcher.
Progress is being made in completing repairs to the broken water mains and water pressure will slowly be restored. Once pressure returns, you should run your water until it is clear of any sediment or or air.
Centerville residents may obtain drinking water from the Centerville Police Department until midnight tonight. Please bring clean containers to be filled. A limited supply of bottled water is also available.
The boil advisory will remain in effect until testing shows the water meets state standards. The earliest this advisory could be lifted is Friday. It is possible however that the advisory will remain in effect through Monday.
Questions concerning this boil advisory may be directed to the Centerville City Building (765) 855-5515
